Droitwich Spa Salt Fest
On Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th September, the annual Droitwich Spa Salt Fest is back!
The Droitwich Spa Salt Fest started back in 2006 to celebrate the town’s unique salt heritage. Since then, the event has grown considerably and now takes place across the whole town centre. Each year, the event attracts thousands of visitors, and whilst the salt heritage and Romans are still important aspects of the day, the event has now become a showcase for the town, businesses and community. Many local groups take part by running their own stalls and organising a range of fun activities, whilst the music showcase features young and up and coming local performers.
Take a look below at some of the exciting events and activities taking place over the weekend:
Saturday 10th September
10.30 – 11.15am – Balloon Modelling (Pirate on foot), Giant Bubbles (Pirate on foot), Pirate on stilts
11.45 – 12.45pm – Have a go at circus skills with the Jolly Pirates plus Pirate tricks
1.15 – 2.00pm – Balloon Modelling (Pirate on foot), Giant Bubbles (Pirate on foot), Pirate on stilts
2.30 – 3.15pm – Have a go at circus skills with the Jolly Pirates plus Pirate tricks
3.00– 4.00pm – Balloon Modelling (Pirate on foot), Giant Bubbles (Pirate on foot), Pirate on stilts (the Pirate on stilts will carry on until 4.30pm)
Also taking place at the Salt Fest is a storytelling caravan which will be set up here at St Andrews Square. The caravan will be open all day and have lots of things for children to explore, but there will be two set story telling times, at 12:45pm and 2pm. This will be running through Shindig, the Rural West Midlands Performing Arts group.
Canalside Studios at the Meetbox are also going to be doing “make a mosaic” and “paint a masterpiece in 10 minutes” from 10:30am- 4:30pm, as well as having an art exhibition.
